Along with Star Wars, the DCEU is probably the most polarizing big franchise currently trending. Not only did it start with Man of Steel getting mixed reviews, but the ratings also plummeted with every new movie. Nevertheless, more recent installments seem to be doing much better. Likewise, the characters in these movies and their conflicts are also not so black-and-white. Some of them are good, but others are not. This makes for fascinating rivalry dynamics…for the most part....

Legendary creator Neil Gaiman has announced a Sandman special to launch a brand new Sandman Universe. The event is planned to coincide with the 30th anniversary of his original Sandman series, with four spin-off comics under his guidance to follow. This will also coincide with the 25th anniversary of the establishment of Vertigo Comics - DC Comics’ mature readers imprint, and what may be the first sign of the ‘Rebirth’ success being expanded to Vertigo, as well....

The DC Extended Universe got off to a shaky start with the dull Man of Steel misrepresenting Superman, Batman v Superman packing seven or eight movies’ worth of story into just one, and a rushed Suicide Squad movie spelling out exposition to the audience. However, then Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman came along to salvage the franchise, proving that standalone movies with care for their characters could be the way forward. James Wan continued this winning streak with Aquaman....

The final trailer for Deadpool 2 is out and it’s an absolute laugh-riot, with jokes riffing on both X-Men Origins: Wolverine and Logan. The Merc With A Mouth has never taken himself particularly seriously, and in this trailer he throws shade at the entire superhero genre. Deadpool cracks wise about the MCU and the DCEU, even name-dropping Thanos. But Fox aren’t above laughing at themselves, either; the trailer features shout-outs to both X-Men Origins: Wolverine and Logan....
