Yeah but those devices have web browsers… Today, however, a new platform shift is taking place. In 2011, for the first time, smartphone and tablet shipments exceed those of desktop and notebook shipments (source: Mary Meeker, KPCB, see slide 7). This move means a new generation of consumers expects their smartphones and tablets to come with instant broadband connectively so they, too, can connect to the Internet....

Death Stranding creator Hideo Kojima appears to be teasing a 2019 release for his long-awaited game. Death Stranding is a game born from the ashes of Silent Hills, a cancelled sequel to the iconic horror series. A teaser for that game – dubbed P.T. - found players stuck in a terrifying loop and is considered one of the finest horror games of the last decade. Sadly, the game’s development was caught up in the messy breakup between Kojima and publisher Konami....

Here’s why Dave Chappelle’s new Netflix special, Sticks & Stones, has courted such controversy. In his latest stand-up set for the streaming service, the famous American comedian takes aim at cancel culture, taboo subjects, and politically correct language. Now, controversy is nothing new for Chappelle. He emerged during the ’90s as a stand-up comedian and film actor, but made his name from 2003 to 2006 with the provocative Comedy Central series Chappelle’s Show established its titular star as a well-known figure in American pop culture....

David Fincher says his involvement with forthcoming sequel World War Z 2 is entirely dependent on the quality of the script. The original World War Z weathered a famously troubled production, where star Brad Pitt allegedly clashed with director Marc Forster and filming delays led to costly budget overruns. The film even reshot its entire third act, resulting in an expensive battle sequence in Russia being completely removed. Despite World War Z’s well-publicized troubles, the film still ended up being a hit, and talk of a sequel soon popped up....

Focused on the day-to-day challenges of teenage life, the Degrassi franchise depicted the careers of adolescents in Toronto. The long-running series made its debut in 1979 with The Kids of Degrassi Street. After concluding in 1986, the next show, Degrassi Junior High retained some of the main cast but changed their characters completely. By 1989, the show aired over 40 episodes dealing with many controversial topics. Degrassi High continued the trend, and The 1992 movie School’s Out!...

Apple has previously partnered with designer brand Hermes for a set of premium Apple Watch bands, sold separately from $340 per strap. It now appears that a second high-profile fashion designer, Coach, is coming on board with its own range of Apple Watch bands. David Boglin De Bautista reports a sales associate in a Coach boutique told him about the upcoming collection, set to debut as early as June. The sales representative sent photos of the as-yet-unreleased bands (shown above), priced at $150 each....

Apple makes beautiful videos to unveil its new products on stage these days, but that wasn’t always the case. Due to the limitations of technology, products like the Original Macintosh never had a super 3D introduction — although the “1984” ad is quite emblematic. Now Thibaut Crepelle has created a video to show what the Macintosh introduction would look like in 2021. Crepelle, a motion designer, decided that he wanted to create cool animations for vintage products, and he believes that the 1984 Macintosh was the perfect product for this (via The Loop)....

Bungie announced yesterday that the developer would soon roll out a fix to prevent Destiny 2 players on Xbox One and PC from using the Wavesplitter exotic tracer rifle, a weapon that was meant to be a PS4-exclusive. The weapon was accidentally sold by Xur last weekend to players on other platforms as well, creating an issue for Bungie, which had advertised the weapon as console-exclusive content specifically created for PS4 players....

DC Universe’s Titans series depicts a much darker world than the animated shows about the same characters, and now it’s confirmed that Dick Grayson’s Robin was a killer, even as Batman’s sidekick. The question of vigilante brutality has been a big issue in recent years, especially since Ben Affleck’s portrayal of the caped crusader in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and Titans certainly makes bloody fights and questionable violence central to its plot....

If DCEU producer Charles Roven gets his way, fans could see a Martian Manhunter film in the near future. While Marvel Studios generally sticks to a specific plan when it comes to their films, the DCEU has taken a more fluid approach. Films that once seemed guaranteed, like Man of Steel 2, The Flash, and The Batman are all up in their air on one level or another. Meanwhile, almost a dozen other films are in development with no word on when fans might see them....

DC has long been a staple of SDCC, with its film panel as part of Warner Bros. presentation in Hall H (SDCC’s largest and most popular hall for panels) a highlight of the weekend. With Marvel Studios skipping out on Hall H this year, the goal is right open for DC to shine....

THQ Nordic has put the development of Dead Island 2 in the hands of Dambuster Studios, who most recently worked on Homefront: the Revolution. Back in 2014, Dead Island 2 was revealed via Sony’s E3 press conference. Since then the game has had an incredibly rocky development cycle, between moving back and forth between three development studios and delay after delay. Sumo Digital was the last studio to have their hands on the project, but things obviously didn’t work out....

Tyler Bates, the composer for John Wick and Guardians of the Galaxy, is tapped to score Deadpool 2. The sequel to 2016’s Deadpool, Deadpool 2 has already wrapped filming ahead of its release next year, which means that it is currently in the (long) process of editing, digital effects, and of course, scoring. With just under seven months until release, it’s right on schedule, despite the issue of the original director (Tim Miller) stepping down to direct another movie....

Defeating PPTP VPNs and WPA2 Enterprise with MS-CHAPv2 This talk was mainly about pointing out the vulnerabilities in the MS-CHAP v2 protocol. The speaker talks about how the previous research has shown that the security of the protocol is based on the password of the user. PPTP and WPA 2 Enterprise (which is used by the Defcon wi-fi network) both depend on MS-CHAP v2 protocol. He then explains how many of the VPN providers support PPTP, giving a specific example about Ipredator which only supports PPTP....
