The villains of DC’s New Gods movie will reportedly be Granny Goodness and the Female Furies. Warner Bros.’ cinematic universe of DC films is currently riding a wave of positivity thanks to Aquaman. The Jason Momoa solo film has grossed over $1 billion at the box office and should give the studio confidence to continue developing their massive slate of projects, especially those with lesser known characters. One of these films is New Gods, which will see Selma and A Wrinkle In Time’s Ava DuVernay direct....

For Superman, like most of the heroes in the DCU, 2019 was not an easy year. He dealt with the line-wide Year of the Villain event along with the mysterious new character initially known only as Leviathan. In Action Comics #1018, as promised in the last panel of Event Leviathan #6, Leviathan has returned to Metropolis with new allies: Apex Lex and the Legion of Doom. Bungie has confirmed that Destiny 2 will be made available as a free-to-play game later this year. After parting ways with Activision, Bungie has set out to make the Destiny franchise its own. Many were unsure of how the studio planned to do that outside of additional expansions, which were promised by the company as things that were en route. It’s clear now that that’s not all Bungie had planned for Destiny 2, though, as several other major announcements have landed since the divorce....

Dateline podcast shows are now offering a subscription option on Apple Podcasts, giving subscribers early access to new episodes, as well as bonus episodes every month. Dateline NBC says that podcasts offer a number of benefits over TV shows … Dateline podcast subscription Digiday reports on the new subscription deal. The company says that the number of Apple Podcast subscribers has increased threefold since June 2021. The offering will give subscribers an ad-free listening experience across Dateline’s roster of nine podcasts and showcasts, one-week early access to new episodes and series and bonus episodes every month....

The Harley Quinn animated TV series gets a release date on DC Universe, as announced at New York Comic Con. The Harley Quinn TV show was first announced in late 2017, as one of the original series set to hit the then-untitled DC streaming service. DC Universe officially launched on Batman Day 2018, with the service’s flagship original, Titans, premiering a little later in October. Since then, DC Universe has rolled out episodes of original series nearly every week, with Young Justice: Outsiders, Doom Patrol, Swamp Thing and Titans season 2 all airing over the last year....

DC Universe reveals Titans season 2 premiere date during the service’s panel at San Diego Comic-Con. Titans was the first live-action original series to debut on the DC Universe subscription service, which includes whole catalogues of DC Comics as well as animated and live-action shows and movies. For its part, Titans is a more adult adaptation of DC’s Teen Titans superhero team. The service obviously has a great deal of confidence in the series since before season 1 even officially premiered last October, DC Universe renewed Titans for season 2, which began filming earlier this year....

On Thursday, the DeFi platform said their protocol was exploited by a hacker who eventually stole 206,809 binance coins from Qubit’s QBridge protocol, worth more than $80 million according to PeckShield. An hour after the first message, the company explained that they were tracking the exploiter and monitoring the stolen cryptocurrency. They noted that they contacted the hacker and offered them the maximum bug bounty in exchange for a return of the funds, something a number of other hacked DeFi platforms have tried to middling success....

New data from Canalys shows that Apple remained the market leader in the combined PC and tablet market in Q1 this year, despite a 16 percent fall in iPad sales. With many consumers buying tablets in place of laptops, the approach taken by Canalys in combining the two arguably makes more sense than separating them out as other companies do. Tablets now outsell laptops, with desktops the poor relation. Worldwide, iPad shipments in Q1 fell 16% year on year to 16....

Australia’s TheAge details this morning how despite earning a profit of $900 million on revenue of over $9 billion in 2018 in Australia, Apple’s tax bill shrunk by nearly $19 million. This brought the company’s total Australian tax bill to $164 million. The Australian Tax Office’s latest transparency report reveals that Apple, alongside the other mega tech behemoths, pay a 30% tax rate. TheAge continues with: Had Apple paid taxes on those “unspecified” expenses, the company would have paid a bill around $400 million....

One of the developers of the upcoming action-adventure survival game Days Gone is insistent that the freakers in the game are not zombies. That stance has been made clear several times by the studio, but Days Gone fans have continued to label the enemies as zombies regardless, so often that Bend Studio is putting its foot down and making its stance clearer than ever. One of the features that sets the game apart, though, is that players have a choice of completing missions in multiple ways: they can use stealth or shoot their way through the hordes....

Less than three months away from Death Stranding’s PC release, Hideo Kojima has suggested that the platform’s exclusive Photo Mode may be coming to the PlayStation 4 after all. Released late last year as a PS4 exclusive, Death Stranding is Hideo Kojima’s first big project after leaving Konami and the first game developed by his new studio Kojima Productions. Death Stranding proved to be a controversial title upon release, with opinions on the game’s quality and mechanics varying wildly between players and critics alike....

Dave Bautista is joining Gears 5 as a playable character after the WWE Clash of Champions pay-per-view event on September 15, 2019.
