The residents of Hawkins, Indiana will once again have to face off against a supernatural predator when Dead by Daylight launches its upcoming Stranger Things crossover, announced today. Stranger Things has already had a video game adaptation, based on its third season, but the Dead by Daylight update will let players get up close and personal with the Demogorgon, the terrifying antagonist of the hit show’s first season. Released in 2016, Dead by Daylight is an asymmetric survival horror game that pits a team of players controlling human survivors against a single player in the role of a killer with much more powerful abilities....

After a long wait and a fun marketing campaign that not only included TV spots, but also posters spoofing romantic movies, Deadpool finally got his debut on the big screen. The success of Tim Miller’s directorial debut has been such that there was even a petition to have Deadpool (not Ryan Reynolds, Deadpool) host Saturday Night Live. Deadpool’s success hasn’t gone unnoticed by his fellow Marvel mates, both from his house (Fox) and from Marvel Studios....

The long-awaited and highly anticipated Deadpool movie is fast exceeding everyone’s expectations. With overwhelmingly positive reviews from critics and fans alike, Deadpool beat X-Men:Days of Future Past’s opening weekend figures in Britain and France, and is also predicted to smash the domestic box office record for a February-opening film with projected takings of $115.3 million during the extended Presidents Day weekend. Starring Ryan Reynolds in what could well be his most popular and successful role to date, Deadpool seems to have got it right from the get-go; a brilliantly clever marketing campaign gave fans countless promos, billboards, Instagram posts and commercials....

With their undeniable flare and showmanship, Sony breathed new life into what an E3 press conference could look like. A live orchestra lead by prolific composer Bear McCreary (Black Sails, Battlestar Galactica, 10 Cloverfield Lane) and floating images across the stage, accented by very little speaking with an emphasis on demos and trailer content really set Sony apart from other studios this year. While many of the games debuted are still in development with no hints at release dates, fans were treated to several good looking trailers....

When DC Comics decided to reboot their entire universe of Justice League heroes and villains in the launch of The New 52, fans were divided. Now that the true force behind the DC Rebirth has been revealed, it’s official: even the heroes themselves now realize The New 52 was always doomed to fail. On the one hand, this is sure to be a time of validation, vindication, and relief for the fans who always felt the New 52 reboot was a bad idea - it’s not every day that a comic publisher confirms that a reboot was a bad, flawed, and dangerous idea they’ve been lucky to survive to this point....

DC films have spent a long time playing catch-up to Marvel, and it’s finally doing so by not copying the MCU. The DCEU started with Man of Steel back in 2013, but that and subsequent DC movies failed to capture the same critical and commercial success as its old comic book rival. While DC had reigned supreme with Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight Trilogy, they struggled to follow that up, while the MCU went from strength-to-strength, with The Avengers in 2012 proving to be a huge hit with fans and critics alike....

After only 10 episodes and a cliffhanger of a series finale, Deadly Class was canceled by SyFy. The series that followed Marcus Arguello’s (Benjamin Wasworth) first semester in the deadly assassins’ academy of King’s Dominion came to an abrupt end, leaving many of the storylines and potential character arcs that were set-up incomplete and dangling. While the comics may provide some closure since the show was pretty faithful to them and it’s still being published by Image Comics, some of the show’s differences create new storylines and possibilities that the source material won’t explore....

The long saga of consumers attempting to figure out whether or not Death Stranding is a PS4 exclusive continued at Gamescom 2019 this week when fans were bombarded with marketing materials that labeled it as something that would appear only on the Sony console. Death Stranding was originally announced years ago as a PS4 and PC game, but had in the interim pivoted towards PS4 exclusivity leading up to launch....

A new report out today claims Apple will soon be taking orders for the Apple Watch in more countries around the world — even as stock in the initial launch countries remains tight. According to Italian site iSpazio, citing anonymous sources, Apple plans to roll out the Apple Watch preview and try-on experience at its retail locations and begin taking pre-orders beginning May 8th. However, sources close to the situation say Apple is not currently targeting May 8th for its second-wave Apple Watch launch…...

Spider-Man: Far From Home visual artist Henrik Tamm has revealed a deleted Mysterio vision that would’ve seen Peter attacked by gigantic spiders. While Far From Home - a film that doubled as a conclusion to Phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming - was full of noteworthy moments, arguably none were more memorable than Mysterio’s illusion. Indeed, some people now rank the super-villain’s surreal, holographic-powered vision as the best sequence ever featured in a live-action Spider-Man movie to date....

Few would have imagined that when young comedian Dave Chappelle first popped up with a small role in 1993’s Robin Hood: Men in Tights that the actor would go on to be one of the biggest voices in comedy. Following that role, he landed a number of other roles in films like Con Air and Blue Streak, continuing to showcase his unique comedic voice. In a landmark merger, Disney recently acquired 21st Century Fox and all of its intellectual properties, including the rights to the X-Men characters, which have now reverted back to Marvel Studios, which is also owned by Disney. Marvel is planning to reboot all of the X-Men characters that had been run into the ground by the Fox franchise, which is to say, every single one except for Ryan Reynolds’ immensely popular take on Deadpool....

Doom Patrol referenced Krypto the Super Dog and the clone version of Superboy from Titans in its most recent episode. This confirms where exactly in the DC Universe timeline the new show takes place. Krypto and Superboy were originally introduced in Titans’ season 1 finale post-credits scene. The brief stinger, set “Somewhere in Metropolis”, took place inside Cadmus Laboratories - the organization in the comics responsible for creating the clone that would later become known as Superboy and take the name Conner Kent....

After news about James Gunn’s new movie, The Suicide Squad, flooded news outlets, DC made sure to announce their own Suicide Squad comic book relaunch as well, debuting this coming December. From the information released so far, writer Tom Taylor has set fans up to expect a series of absolute carnage, telling his Twitter followers not to get attached to any of the new team’s members. From what we know so far, Harley Quinn and Deadshot are both returning to lead the team of new members, but a new leader will be replacing Amanda Waller as the head of Task Force X (who, believe it or not, will care even LESS about the lives of the squad’s members)....

Bob Iger confirms that X-Men, Deadpool and the Fantastic Four are now all part of Marvel Studios. After news broke out that Disney was looking to purchase Fox’s TV and movie assets, Marvel fans zeroed in on the possibility of the long-separated characters like the mutants finally joining the Avengers in the MCU. After several months of a rigorous process, the historic sale was finally done early this year, which means that it’s only a matter of time before the X-Men and their tie-in characters are eventually involved in Kevin Feige’s interconnected universe....

It’s hard to imagine that two of Fox’s most popular superhero films of the past few years have been R-Rated standalones about a fourth-wall-breaking mercenary and two old men and a child, respectively. But in fact, Deadpool and Logan have not only been huge hits with critics and audiences, but have proven to be box office smashes. With fans eager for more R-Rated superhero films, expect to see Fox take advantage of this niche....

Last April, word got out that a live-action American version of the manga and anime series Death Note was being planned at Warner Bros., with Adam Wingard directing from a script written by Jeremy Slater. Casting began on the project, and all indications pointed to filming beginning this year for a likely 2017 release. Unfortunately, the Death Note adaptation seems to be one of the casualties of Warner Bros.’ rumored desire to cut back on non-franchise releases, so it can focus on its franchise properties....
