90 Day Fiancé’s Deavan Clegg opened up about the real reason she moved away to South Korea with her husband Jihoon Lee. She revealed that she decided to move her family away from America because she was allegedly in danger of a family member who was trying to kidnap her.

The young couple’s journey was documented on season 1 of the 90 Day Fiancé spinoff 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way. The show explained their love story. The couple first met in person after hitting it off on a dating app; Deavan was from Salt Lake City, while Lee lived in South Korea. After speaking for a couple of months, Lee took the leap and went to visit Deavan in Utah. Jihoon stayed in the US for three months and it was revealed that he had gotten Deavan pregnant. Lee later proposed to Deavan when he came back and visited her in Las Vegas with his mother and father, who were there to approve of the union. On 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way, Deavan got married to Jihoon and moved with her daughter from a previous relationship, Drassilla, and her baby, Taeyang to Korea to be close to Jihoon and his family.

However, it was revealed that being close to Jihoon’s family wasn’t the only reasoning behind moving to South Korea. Deavan went to Instagram (via In Touch Weekly) to write about the startling real reasons behind the move. She wrote on her Instagram story, “I noticed that the show never showed the reason why I moved.” She explained that she was waiting for the last episode, the tell-all episode, before she revealed the real reason. She wrote, “I was waiting for the tell-all but they never showed it.” She explained that Jihoon could have come to America anytime, it was just a better choice for her to move to Korea. She continued, “A lot of people are wondering. Jihoon can realistically move to America at any time, but we decided to move to Korea so I could be a stay at home mom and raise the children.”

She revealed that being a stay at home mom wasn’t a possibility in the states “until Jihoon could learn English.” Then Deavan dropped a bombshell, writing, “As well I was in danger.” She explained, “And America became a very unsafe place for me due to a family member.” The mother of two revealed, " This family member tired to kidnap me and steal my car while I was pregnant." She explained that that was the real reason that “made us fully decide to move to Korea.” The 90 Day Fiancé star went onto explain that the “family member is a dangerous person. So I’ll be in Korea for a long time. Because for some reason they keep letting her out of jail.”

There has been speculation that this family member is actually an aunt of Deavan, but it’s still uncertain who the person is. If the allegations of kidnapping are true and that she and her children were in fact in danger, then it seems that she and Jihoon will be staying in Korea for a long time. It seems odd that such a dramatic part of Deavan’s story wasn’t shown on the show and it poses some questions as to why they chose to edit it out of the tell-all episode. As a fan-favorite couple, it remains to be seen if they would do a follow up on this couple in one of the many 90 Day Fiancé spinoff shows or not, but fans definitely want to know more about Devan’s kidnapping allegations.
