A second image of Josh Brolin as Cable in Deadpool 2 has arrived, giving us an even better look at the new character. For months now, fans have been hoping to get a glimpse of the new mutants that will be coming to life in Deadpool 2. While the X-Men franchise so far has introduced a number of characters from the page, the sequel to last year’s sleeper hit is all set to bring fan-favorite mutants Cable and Domino to the big screen for the first time.

Last week, Ryan Reynolds finally unveiled our first look at Zazie Beetz as the hyper-lucky mutant mercenary Domino. Staying fairly faithful to the comics, the image meant the reveal of Cable was likely that much closer. Sure enough, all anyone will be talking about this week is the just-released first look at Josh Brolin as Cable. Before the Internet could even properly freak out about the photo, however, an even better shot of the time traveling mutant was put out.

Ryan Reynolds took to Twitter to follow up his first reveal with another shot of Josh Brolin as Cable in Deadpool 2. While the first image gave us a good look at the character’s visage, the new shot shows his whole body. Not only do we get a better look at his arsenal, but we can see his full cybernetic arm and the techno-organic virus creeping up his neck and slowly consuming him.

There’s a lot to get excited about in the image. Brolin looks fairly similar to most versions of Cable—though with a slightly less imposing build. Still, he has the cybernetic eye and arm, a whole slew of crazy weapons, and of course the virus from the future that’s killing him. Surprisingly, however, one new detail has been added that’s sure to leave everyone scratching their heads.

On Brolin’s left hip is a teddy bear, something not part of the Cable canon in the comics. While it could be a bit of Deadpool-irreverence (similar to Boomerang’s unicorn in Suicide Squad), there might be a deeper meaning. In the more recent comics, Cable takes a young mutant named Hope under his wing. After the Scarlet Witch wipes out all new mutants, Hope is born and deemed the messiah of her people. She’s quickly targeted by anti-mutant zealots, only to be saved by Cable. He then raises her in the future and she takes his last name of Summers.

Could the teddy bear indicated Cable is from a future where Hope is under his care? Could Hope be the mutant messiah following the near-extinction of homo superior in the Logan timeline? We’ll likely have to wait a bit longer to find out, but luckily Reynolds isn’t shy about revealing details for Deadpool 2.
