The Arrowverse unveiled some new corners of its newly-reborn multiverse in the closing chapter of Crisis on Infinite Earths — as well as confirming a designated home for Titans. After weeks of waiting, the ambitious CW/DC crossover event picked up a few months after the huge Crisis on Infinite Earths “Part 3” cliffhanger. With the entire multiverse wiped out of existence, all that remained was the seven prophesized paragons. Stranded at The Vanishing Point, the remaining heroes attempted to find a way to undo the devastation.

Fortunately, the chosen few achieved that goal with the help of Oliver Queen, who had evolved into the Arrowverse’s version of Spectre. In that capacity, Oliver ventured to the dawn of time. It was there that the paragons fought the Anti-Monitor’s shadow demons while Spectre tackled the otherworldly tyrant directly. As he did so, Oliver channeled his newfound powers into “lighting the spark” and rebirthing the multiverse, while the others “fanned the flames” by serving as personifications of several specific tenets. Prior to the closing moments of Crisis on Infinite Earths “Part 5,” with the battle finally won, fans were treated to a montage of some newly established (or officially confirmed) parallel Earths.

Among them was a fittingly quirky glimpse at the members of Doom Patrol. Another prominent part was Crisis on Infinite Earths set up the upcoming Stargirl show. In terms of the Titans, however, the quick shots served to show a handful of members firmly in action. Both Raven and Starfire were seen unleashing their powers. The duo of Hawk and Dove, meanwhile, were clearly in the middle of a tense situation. And while Jason Todd’s moment was actually him cavorting around Wayne Manor, the character looked customarily intense as he sat atop a motorbike — almost mirroring the last time fans saw him in the Titans season 2 finale. Despite the fact that Titans served as an introduction to Doom Patrol, the brief shots solidified just how different in tone the show DC Universe shows actually are. Equally, a title card once again established the Titans as being residents of Earth-9, meaning that Titans and Doom Patrol are definitely in separate continuities.

The characters of Titans had been featured briefly before in the Arrowverse. Jason Todd and Hawk were both seen in an earlier installment, with recycled footage from the show retrofitted to imply that their Earth was being wiped out by the anti-matter wave. This new cameo, however, served to established that the titular heroic team had been fully restored ahead of the already confirmed Titans season 3. Once again, none of the glimpses were comprised of new footage. Each of the shots came directly from the earlier episodes of Titans season 2.

What this means for the future, however, remains up for speculation. While many would love to see the characters from Titans make an official appearance, it likely won’t be any time soon. With Ezra Miller’s thrilling surprise appearance as the DCEU’s Barry Allen making a more substantial appearance, it’s certainly not impossible. That being said, however, Supergirl revealed that the Arrowverse heroes believe the multiverse to be gone. As a result, there likely be little in the way of jumping between parallel dimensions for the foreseeable future.

Also unclear is whether the titular crisis will have impacted the world of Titans in any way. The showrunners of the respective Arrowverse shows were told to treat Crisis on Infinite Earths as a kind of golden ticket that could be used to change their continuity in both poignant and amusing ways. It’s unlikely that the same opportunity will be seized upon by Titans, however. Though there is much that fans would wish to see retconned — especially regarding Donna Troy’s widely criticized death — such plots will largely be explained in-house rather than as a result of Crisis on Infinite Earths. As such, Titans season 3 will probably not even address it: with the characters left unaware that anything even happened and the fact they are officially in the Arrowverse merely being a fun detail for fans.
