DC’s Suicide Squad relaunch is said to be a truly bloody affair, filled with numerous team casualties. And while DC has already promised “absolute carnage” in Suicide Squad #1, the official preview shows readers really shouldn’t get attached to any of the new characters… lest they be smeared in the first pages.

The arrival of a new Suicide Squad series and team would normally give readers a chance to get to know so many fresh faces, but with Harley Quinn promising readers on the very cover that “By the end of the issue… half the team will be dead!” these first pages are also the last… but for which members?

Now DC has revealed the first pages of Suicide Squad #1, showing the Injustice team of Tom Taylor and Brunio Redondo haven’t softened their style one bit. The preview puts new characters The Aerie and Wink (seemingly a couple) into the spotlight… dropping what appears to be a government official to his bloody death. You’ve been warned:

The image of Deadshot, Harley Quinn, King Shark, and other Task Force X members being shown the footage of the event, seemingly chosen by Amanda Waller, is an intriguing hook. Adding an entirely new roster to the mix certainly freshens up the title, whether or not the Squad will be partnering with, or facing off against this new assortment of criminals. Chaos Kitten? Scale and Fin? T.N.Teen? That’s pretty superb work from Taylor just on name-value alone. Seeing how they interact with old Suicide Squad members is going to be a real treat.

The first issue is going to be a bloodbath. Nobody is safe from meeting a gruesome fate - which is pretty awesome. Because isn’t that what the Suicide Squad is all about? No one in the group should feel comfortable. Will your favorite new characters make it out alive? We’ll have to wait and see. Just don’t get too attached.
