There isn’t a more iconic Batman villain - and perhaps, all of comics - than The Joker. Whether it’s been in the pages of comics, on television, or on the big screen, The Joker has been a massive part of DC Comics’ success over the years. Now, he’s getting his own comic special celebrating his history.

The Joker first appeared in Batman #1 in 1940 and was created by Bill Finger, Bob Kane, and Jerry Robinson. He’s always been Batman’s biggest foe, as the two’s dynamic has been equal parts compelling and twisted. He’s been the integral Batman villain for good reason. Since debuting, The Joker has become one of the most popular pop culture characters of all time.

The Joker will be the latest character - following Robin and Catwoman - to receive their own 100-page anniversary special. The Joker 80th Anniversary 100-Page Super Spectacular will bring together the best Batman and Joker creators into what’s sure to be an insane, yet fun book. Joining in on the celebrations will be Brian Azzarello, Lee Bermejo, Paul Dini, Denny O’Neil, Scott Snyder, Tom Taylor, Jock, José Luis García-López, Mikel Janín, James Tynion IV, Riley Rossmo, and more.

The book will feature a variety of different stories featuring some notable Joker moments and locations, including a trip to Arkham Asylum, a run-in with Gotham City PD, and a visit to the gritty underworld of Gotham. The stories will appropriately mix in both humor and terror The Joker is known for. So, prepare to laugh and be scared while checking out the 100-page book.

The Joker 80th Anniversary 100-Page Super Spectacular will also feature a bevy of iconic artists doing covers as DC Comics plans to release variants for each decade The Joker appeared in. Here’s a break down of those variants.
